In the opening verses of St Paul’s letter to the Philippians he writes “I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel … “
One of Paul’s key purposes in writing to the Philippians was to thank and praise them for their sacrificial giving. Ever since that first European church was planted in Philippi, ordinary Christian folk have given sacrificially to advance the gospel in extraordinary ways. The Philippians joyful giving was in response to having received God’s grace and salvation, through our Lord’s colossal sacrifice on the cross.
At Easter this year we have an opportunity to give to equip our church to achieve extraordinary results at Canford. Not only will we sustain the long time viability of our ancient one thousand year old parish church but we will also regenerate our excellent church centre into a multi-purpose church and community hub. This will position us to effectively evangelise and reach out to our local community. Additionally, it will ensure that we have excellent facilities to meet the needs of ministry in the 21st century to fulfil our vision of ‘Growing the Kingdom, growing disciples’.
Will you walk in the footsteps of the early church and join me in this modern-day partnership in the gospel? I realise this is a huge challenge because it will require everyone to get behind the vision and give; but, if it is God’s will, I believe we can achieve our goal that is to raise at least £500,000.
Please pray and carefully consider over the next few months how you might contribute towards securing the long-term future of our church at Canford.
With love and every blessing
in your thoughts,
Canon Chris Tebbutt
