Please pray for Sudan and its people.
The Diocese of Salisbury Sudan-Link has a prayer network active throughout the whole Diocese which communicates to Parish churches and individuals by e-mail.
Lambeth Conference 16th July to 3rd August 2008
This month will see final preparations both at national level and here in Salisbury. The presence of all Sudanese bishops and their wives occurs only once in a decade. Please pray that it will be really valuable for all concerned, both British and Sudanese. Opportunities for misunderstanding and cultural arrogance abound. Pray for real understanding, not least in cutting through the issues of affluence and materialism so that we can all evaluate clearly what is appropriate. Pray especially for preparations in the Deaneries and for the Partners Conference.
Bishop Peter Munde Yacoub from the diocese of Yambia in northern Sudan visited the Parish church with his wife Margaret. Sudanese bishops are visiting churches within the Salisbury Diocese to thank them for 35 years of support. He shared a little of their life in the Sudan and preached on the theme of unity. He asked for prayer that the forthcoming Lambeth Conference will be marked by a sense of unity throughout the Anglican church.
