Lay Pastoral Assistants are Church members who have attended a training course and have then been licensed by the Diocese to assist the clergy, being ultimately responsible to the clergy.

The role of an L.P.A. is mainly pastoral but does also involve some teaching (e.g. Baptism preparation).

Visits are undertaken to elderly, sick and bereaved parishioners and also to parents requesting baptism for their children.
