We begin the year by focusing on a book by a great author known to many called Richard Foster. In his book ‘Streams of Living Water’ Foster views the Christian tradition as a confluence of six 'streams' or traditions: 'contemplative' (prayer and meditation), 'holiness' (morality and virtue), 'charismatic' (spiritual gifts and worship), 'social justice' (prophetic), 'evangelical' (hearing and sharing God's word) and 'incarnational' (faith in everyday life). He illustrates these streams by reference to movements and figures throughout the history of the Church - there is an excellent biographical appendix describing around 200 key figures at the back of the book.
We encourage every church member to join a Housegroup in this short six week study starting on Sunday 10th January.
On each Sunday there will be a brief study guide to accompany the sermon, and some questions to help House Group members to engage in discussion. Please contact Bev & June Probert on 571731 if you’d like to join a Housegroup.
Our teaching continues after Ash Wednesday by following the Lectionary through Lent to Easter Day.
